GoDaddy Hosting Review 2026

I hosted this site on GoDaddy for close to ten years before moving it in 2026. Here is what was good, what made me leave, and who should still buy GoDaddy.

Are you considering buying web hosting from GoDaddy but want to read a GoDaddy hosting review first? Do you have questions in mind like: Is GoDaddy hosting good? Is it worth the price in 2026?

If yes, this GoDaddy review is for you. And this is not a review written from the features page. This website, alexwebhosting.com, was hosted on GoDaddy for close to ten years. I moved it to Hostinger in 2026. So in this review I will tell you what was good, what made me leave, and who I think should still buy GoDaddy today.

My Experience: 10 Years on GoDaddy Hosting

I bought GoDaddy’s Ultimate hosting plan around 2016-17. At that time it was an easy choice for someone in India. GoDaddy had started operating in India, I could pay with my local card, I got a free domain with the plan, and the pricing was quite cheap compared to the other popular hosts.

For many years it worked. My websites were online and I didn’t have to think about the server. But slowly the cost started to grow, and in 2026 I decided to move. These were the reasons.

1. The renewal price kept getting heavier

The first purchase was reasonable, but every renewal of the Ultimate plan was a heavier amount. These are the numbers from my own GoDaddy invoices:

InvoiceTermList priceDiscountI paidPer month
Ultimate, first purchase3 yearsNot shownNot shown₹19,764₹549
Ultimate, 20223 years₹35,964₹10,247.40₹25,716.60₹714
Ultimate, 20251 year₹11,988₹2,206.93₹9,781.07₹815
PHP Extended Support, 2025Extra charge1 year₹1,668₹307.07₹1,360.93₹113

From my GoDaddy invoices (India, INR), amounts before GST. On the first invoice GST was another ₹3,557.52. The 2025 invoice total was ₹11,142 for one year.

Look at the last column. The same plan went from ₹549 a month to ₹714, and then to ₹929 a month with the PHP charge. That is a 69% increase for the same hosting, on an old server.

So in 2025 I paid ₹11,142 for one year of hosting, which is about ₹929 a month. In August 2026 I paid Hostinger ₹9,552 for 48 months of their Unlimited plan, which is ₹199 a month, with unlimited websites, daily backups and CDN included. In simple words, four years on Hostinger cost me less than one year on GoDaddy. Even when the Hostinger plan renews at ₹649 a month, it will still be cheaper than what I was paying GoDaddy. That one comparison made the decision for me.

2. Free SSL came only for new accounts

When I bought my plan, GoDaddy gave a Standard SSL free only for the first year. My first invoice shows it as “Standard SSL, 1 yr, ₹0”. After that year there was no free SSL on any plan, so I bought SSL from another provider and installed it on my GoDaddy hosting, which was a separate expense every year. Later GoDaddy started giving free SSL, but only on new accounts. Old accounts like mine didn’t get it, so I kept paying for SSL while new customers got it free.

3. I paid extra to stay on an old PHP version

Two of my sites were on an old PHP version. When newer PHP versions came, GoDaddy started charging extra to keep supporting the old versions, so I had to pay for that too. GoDaddy calls it PHP Extended Support, and their help page says this paid add-on is applied automatically at renewal to plans that are on PHP versions no longer supported by PHP.net. You can see it on my 2025 invoice above as “PHP Extended Support Level 1”, ₹1,668 a year before discount. Most hosting providers I have used don’t charge for this. They simply ask you to upgrade PHP.

4. Old server, average speed

Because I bought the plan years ago, my account stayed on an older server. The speed was not as good as it should have been for the amount I was paying.

5. Support was hard to reach

Whenever I needed help, live chat was mostly unavailable, and on phone support the wait time was very long every single time I called. This is my experience as a long-time customer. You may have a better experience, but this was a big reason for me.

What changed after I moved

I moved to Hostinger’s Unlimited plan. Four years there cost me less than one year on GoDaddy, and SSL, daily backups and CDN are included in the plan. Their AI chat assistant has solved almost every problem I had so far, and I haven’t needed to talk to a human yet.

GoDaddy Hosting Plans and Prices in 2026

GoDaddy has changed its plans since I bought mine. Here are the current web hosting plans. Every price below is for the first 3-year term, and the plan renews at the regular price after that.

Before tax, checked October 2026 on GoDaddy US and GoDaddy India. High Performance, WordPress and VPS prices are on my GoDaddy pricing page.

The entry prices look fine, and the ₹89 Starter plan in India is one of the cheapest plans from a big brand. The problem starts at renewal, which I explain next.

GoDaddy Renewal Price: The Biggest Complaint

If you ask GoDaddy customers what they don’t like, most will say the same two things: the renewal price, and features that are sold as add-ons. That is also why “GoDaddy renewal coupon” is one of the most searched GoDaddy terms on Google. People buy at a low price, and when the renewal bill comes, they start looking for a way to reduce it.

What Economy costs for 6 years

You pay 36 months upfront at the sale price. The next 36 months come at the regular price, which is double.

$0$160$320$480 $215.64$431.64 Months 1 to 36Months 37 to 72 Sale price $5.99/moRegular price $11.99/mo
First 36 months$215.64
Next 36 months$431.64
6 years, hosting only$647.28
  • Before you renew, ask a support agent for a renewal discount. In my experience they add a coupon of about 10 to 15% to your account. My invoices show discounts of 18% on the 2025 renewal and 28% on the 2022 3-year renewal, so it is always worth asking.
  • Check the domain renewal too. GoDaddy’s domain renewal price is often higher than other registrars.
What GoDaddy sales told me about Economy in India

₹2,388 for the first year. From the second year, ₹7,188 for hosting plus ₹5,999 if you keep the SSL that auto-renews. That is ₹13,187 a year, five and a half times the first year. If you need SSL after year one, Deluxe at a slightly higher price lists free SSL for all sites, which works out cheaper.

GoDaddy Add-ons and Extra Charges

The second complaint is upsells. With GoDaddy, many things that other hosts include are either limited on the cheaper plans or sold separately. Here is what to check before you buy:

Check your plan
SSL

Economy gets free SSL for 1 year only, then ₹5,999 a year according to GoDaddy sales. Deluxe and Ultimate list free SSL for all sites.

Backups

Plans include an automatic daily backup to restore the previous day. Longer backup history is the paid Website Backup product.

Web Security

Offered in the cart. On GoDaddy India it was ₹349 a month, more than the Starter hosting itself.

Old PHP versions

PHP Extended Support is added automatically at renewal if your site is on an end-of-life PHP version. Upgrade PHP to avoid it.

None of these is a big amount alone. But together with a higher renewal, they are why a GoDaddy account costs more every year than the price you saw when you bought it.

GoDaddy Customer Support

GoDaddy offers chat, phone and email support, and they say their support team, called GoDaddy Guides, has over 3,500 people in more than 20 countries. On paper that is one of the biggest support teams in hosting.

My own experience as a customer was different. When I needed help, live chat was mostly unavailable, and phone calls had a long wait every time. To check if this has improved, I contacted their sales chat on 8 October 2026 from GoDaddy India and asked five simple questions that any buyer should ask.

First an AI assistant took my questions and put me in a queue with an “estimated wait time of 1 minute”. A human agent joined after 5 minutes. He answered only the first question, that SSL is free for the first year, and then straight away asked if he should help me with my purchase. I had to ask the remaining questions again. He said he would confirm in 2 minutes, and the answers came about 10 minutes after I first asked. It looked like he had to check with someone else.

GoDaddy sales chat reply: Economy 2,388 rupees for year one, renews at 7,188 rupees, SSL renewal 5,999 rupees

To be fair, the agent was polite and the prices he gave are useful. But a buyer should not have to ask twice to know the renewal price, and three basic questions about backups, migration and resources should not be left unanswered by a sales team.

GoDaddy Hosting Speed

On my old Ultimate account, the speed was average, because the account stayed on an older server for years. GoDaddy says its current plans use NVMe storage and are up to 2x faster. To check how GoDaddy hosting performs today, I tested four live websites that are hosted on GoDaddy shared hosting right now. I measured TTFB (time to first byte), which is how long the server takes to start sending the page. It depends mostly on the hosting, not on the design of the site.

Sites tested: 4 live sites on GoDaddy shared hosting
Tool: KeyCDN Performance Test

KeyCDN Performance Test, one run per location, 8 October 2026. Amsterdam results are in the medians but not shown in the table.

Here is what these numbers tell you. GoDaddy’s hosting page talks about data centers in North America and Europe, but three of these four sites connected in about 2 ms from Singapore and answered in 45 to 77 ms. That means they sit on a GoDaddy server in Singapore, which is likely where Indian accounts are placed. For visitors in India and South-East Asia this is fast. Google’s guideline for a good TTFB is under 800 ms, and these sites were well under 200 ms from Bangalore.

The same three sites took 0.5 to 1 second from the US and Europe. So if most of your visitors are outside Asia, ask GoDaddy which data center your account will be on before you buy.

The fourth site was slow from every location, between 1.2 and 2.4 seconds. Its fastest connection was from New York, so it is probably on a US server, but distance is not the problem here, because it was slow even from the US. A slow TTFB everywhere usually means the server or the site itself is overloaded, and on shared hosting you can’t fix that by choosing a closer location.

GoDaddy Hosting Pros and Cons

What I like

  • Easy to buy: local currency and local cards in India, and hosting plus domain in one account.
  • Starter at ₹89 a month is one of the cheapest plans from a big brand in India.
  • Standard cPanel, so moving in or out is simple.
  • Fast in Asia: sites on GoDaddy’s Singapore servers answered in under 200 ms from India in my test.
  • Current plans use NVMe storage and include a daily backup.

What I don’t

  • Renewal is about double the sale price, and old accounts pay even more.
  • Many things are add-ons: longer backups, security, extended PHP support.
  • New features like free SSL didn’t reach my old account.
  • In my chat test, only 2 of 5 basic questions got a full answer.
  • Sites hosted in Singapore were 0.5 to 1 second slower for US and European visitors.

How I scored GoDaddy

Support (chat test)
4 / 10
Speed in Asia
8.5 / 10
Speed in US and Europe

Overall 5.5 / 10 is the average of these five. Price is from my own invoices and GoDaddy’s sales chat, speed from 4 live GoDaddy sites, October 2026.

Who Should Buy GoDaddy Hosting?

Ten years ago GoDaddy was an easy choice. In 2026 the story has changed a lot. Many more hosts are in the market now, they give better service, and their pricing is competitive. So GoDaddy makes sense only in a few cases:

Good fit

One small site in India

Starter at ₹89 a month for three years is cheap. Just plan for the renewal.

Good fit

Domains already at GoDaddy

One account for domain, hosting and email is convenient if you value that.

OK fit

Long-term site on a budget

The renewal and add-ons will cost you more every year. Look at the alternatives below.

GoDaddy Hosting Review FAQ

Is GoDaddy good for hosting?

It is reliable enough for a small site, easy to buy, and fast for visitors in India if your account is on their Singapore servers. But it is expensive after the first term and many features are paid add-ons, so in 2026 other hosts give better value. I give it 5.5 out of 10.

Why is GoDaddy renewal so expensive?

The low price is a first-term discount. At renewal the plan goes to the regular price, about double for Economy. Ask support for a renewal coupon before you pay. My own renewal invoices show discounts between 18% and 28%.

Does GoDaddy give free SSL?

Deluxe and Ultimate list free SSL for all sites. Economy gets it for 1 year only, and GoDaddy’s sales chat told me the SSL renewal after that is ₹5,999 a year in India. Older accounts like mine didn’t get free SSL when GoDaddy introduced it.

Does GoDaddy charge for old PHP versions?

Yes. PHP Extended Support is a paid add-on that GoDaddy applies at renewal if your site runs on a PHP version that is no longer supported. Upgrading PHP avoids it.

Is GoDaddy good for WordPress?

WordPress runs fine on GoDaddy’s cPanel plans, and there are separate WordPress plans. For the same money you can get more elsewhere. On my Hostinger Unlimited plan, daily backups and CDN are included.

Why did you move from GoDaddy to Hostinger?

The renewal price, paying separately for SSL and old PHP support, an old slow server and hard-to-reach support. In 2025 I paid GoDaddy ₹11,142 for one year. In 2026 I paid Hostinger ₹9,552 for four years of their Unlimited plan.
