What this site collects, which tools it uses, and how to reach me about your data.

Who runs this site

AlexWebHosting (alexwebhosting.com) is written by Alex, the pen name I use on this site. For any question about this policy or your data, email alexwebhosting.com@gmail.com or use the contact page.

What this site collects

When you read pages

Like every website, the server records basic technical data for each visit: your IP address, browser, device, the page you opened, the page you came from and the time. This site is hosted on Hostinger, and these server logs are kept by them for security and to keep the site running.

When you use the contact form

The form sends your name, email, topic and message to my email inbox. The site itself doesn’t store the message. I use your email only to reply to you, and I don’t add it to any mailing list.

When you click a host link

Links to hosting companies go through alexwebhosting.com/visit/ before they reach the host. The site counts how many times each link was clicked, and it doesn’t store your IP address or any other detail about you. After that you are on the host’s own website, where the host or its affiliate network (such as CJ Affiliate) may set cookies to record that you came from my site. Their privacy policies apply there.

Analytics and cookies

I use these tools to understand which pages are useful and what to improve:

ToolWhat it doesCookies
Google AnalyticsCounts visits, pages read, the country and the type of deviceYes. In Europe, only after you accept cookies
Google Search ConsoleShows which Google searches bring people to the siteNo, nothing runs in your browser

If you visit from Europe (the EU and EEA, the UK, Switzerland and nearby countries), a banner asks if you accept analytics cookies, and Google Analytics runs only if you click Accept. Outside Europe there is no banner, and Google Analytics runs by default. Wherever you are, you can turn it off from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and your choice is saved in your browser.

The site decides if you are in Europe from the time zone set on your device. It doesn’t look up your IP address for this. If your device is set to a European time zone, you will see the banner.

Google Analytics sees your IP address and browser details, and it may process data outside your country. I don’t use it to identify you, and I don’t use advertising or remarketing features.

The fonts on this site are stored on this site’s own server, so reading a page doesn’t connect your browser to any font service.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site works fine without them.

Who I share data with

I don’t sell or rent your data. Data is shared only with the services that run the site: Hostinger (hosting) and Google (Analytics and Search Console).

Your choices and rights

You can ask me what data I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. For a contact form message, this means the email you sent me. Write to alexwebhosting.com@gmail.com and I will reply within 1 to 2 working days.

Children

This site is meant for adults buying web hosting. I don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

When I change how the site works, for example by adding a new tool, I update this page and the date at the top.

Who wrote this

Hi, I'm Alex

I sold hosting plans at a domain and hosting company for five years, starting in 2008. Since 2014 I've bought hosting for my own sites, and I started this site in 2017 to write about what happened.
